- The student must maintain good academic standing in Japan, throughout the scholarship program.

- Embassy Recommendation:
Applicants must first contact the Japanese Embassy or Consulate in their home country and obtain recommendations from the Japanese Embassy or Consulate in their home country in order to apply to Hokkaido University.
